Volkswagen achieves sales record in China

Bad days for car producers? Great days for Volkswagen! March 2009 has been the most successful month ever with regard to Volkswagen sales in China. Sales of Volkswagen went up by 6 % from January to March 2009 taking into account all of the Volkswagen group brands such as VW, Skoda, Audi and Bentley. VW told the German daily Handelsblatt that the growth in VW sales was supported by the Chinese economic stimulus package which promotes the sale of small cars.
Other German car producers have apparently also benefitted from the Chinese stimulus package with BMW reporting sales in the first quarter of 2009 14 % higher than in the first quarter of 2008 and Daimler declaring that the Chinese market is again gathering momentum.
